Member of Provincial Parliament Christina Mitas was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in 2018 to represents the riding of Scarborough Centre as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. Before being elected, she was a teacher in Scarborough and had experience teaching abroad. MPP Mitas was also the previous President of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education Alumni Association.

MPP Mitas has a long history of political involvement and is passionate about increasing female participation in politics. 

Scarborough Centre

Scarborough Centre is the heart of Scarborough. Located inside of the riding is both the Scarborough Civic Centre and Scarborough Town Centre, one of the largest malls in Toronto. The population of Scarborough Centre is one of the most diverse in the country. Over half or the residents are immigrants or the children of immigrants. The riding is also notable for the amount of small businesses that line most of the major roadways. The riding is bounded on the west by Victoria Park Avenue, on the north by Highway 401, on the east by McCowan Road, Lawrence Avenue East and Bellamy Road North, and on the south by Eglinton Avenue East.
